Senator Zieman is 63 years of age, married to Jennifer and are the parents of four children, Wendy and her husband Kevin Suddendorf, Becky and her husband Mic Hayes, Douglas and his wife Dawn, and Amy and her husband Dan Norton. Three grandchildren: Kylie and Kole Suddendorf and Leah Norton.

Born and raised in the Postville area, member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, graduated from Postville High School and attended ISU for 2 years. We have been farming for 42 years and the owner of Cherry Valley Enterprises, a trucking company. I also am co-owner of the bowling alley in Postville. I'm a member and officer of the Iowa Motor Truck Association, past chairman of the Allamakee County Zoning Board, past chairman of the Allamakee County Republican Central Committee, and a member of the following organizations: Corn Growers Assoc., Soybean Growers Assoc., National Federation of Independent Business, National Chamber of Commerce, and the Postville Lions Club.
